Position Summary: Haverhill Security Guard Lead Full Time Nights 11pm-7:30am
Job Description:
Under the direction of the Hospital/Regional Security Manager, supervises the effective day-to-day operations of the Security Department to ensure a safe environment for all hospital employees, patients, visitors, physicians, and equipment. Protects life and property of all persons on hospital premises.
Essential Functions:
- Helps supervise the day-to-day operations of the Security team members.
- Helps provide coaching and counseling to security employees and helps complete annual performance appraisals. Ensures security employees are adhering to security procedures through constant evaluation and frequent patrol of hospital property.
- Functions as a Security Officer or dispatch to respond to emergency calls for assistance as back-up support, during peak times, or if short staffed.
- Ensures compliance with company, state, and regulatory requirements to maintain accreditation and licensure.
- Reviews and evaluates security related reports, surveys, and audits.
- Protects life and property of all persons on hospital premises. Deescalates all potentially tense situations. Immediately contacts local police prior to any physical altercations.
- Patrols hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. Diligently reports any suspicious activity and investigates accidents, incidents, and criminal acts.
- Secures, locks, and protects hospital buildings and grounds.
- Responds quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Assists hospital staff in de-escalation of tense situations and responds immediately to support the safety of staff.
- Ensures only authorized persons are admitted onto hospital property. Assists with inquiries made by patients, visitors, or other employees.
- Maintains current information in daily activity reports/logs, incident reports, lost and found logs, etc.
- Serves as a member of the emergency response team and responds to codes appropriately.
- Reports all safety and fire hazards, investigates incidents of unusual circumstances, and reports all incidents to supervisor.
- Supports all fire/life safety/emergency management drills and education initiatives.
- Documents incident reports in an accurate and timely manner. Follows appropriate investigative procedures.
- Must be able to respond quickly to all areas of the hospital.
- Successfully completes hospital and department specific orientation and ongoing mandatory education requirements in a timely manner.
- Manage access control at various entrances by ensuring all staff, patients, visitors, and vendors are authorized to gain entry for business/service purposes.
- Assists with the operation of security systems: CCTV, access control, and incident reporting.
- Assists in maintaining regulatory requirements, including state and federal regulations.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Maintains a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, staff, and vendors. Acts as a liaison with other departments.
- Should an emergency situation arise (weather related or other emergency related events), senior management may require security staff to remain at the hospital in order to ensure the well-being of our patients is uncompromised and hospital operations are uninterrupted. While these situations are unusual and at times unpredictable, the Supervisor Security should be prepared to remain on site.
- Remains keenly alert at all times, alerting all employees, patients, and others to possible threats or situations requiring immediate attention.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: : High school diploma or equivalent (GED) Preferred.
- Experience: Two to five (2-5) years of experience in the field of law enforcement, security operations, or a related field is required. One (1) year of supervisory experience is required. Experience in a health care setting is preferred.
- Certification/Licensure: A current Basic Life Support (CPR) American Red Cross or American Heart Association Provider certification or a CPI certification is preferred.
IV. Other: Must be able to successfully clear a background check, including a criminal search. Use or possession of a firearm and/or other weapons is prohibited.
