Our specialized services include cardiology, orthopedics, maternity, diagnostic imaging, emergency care with a 24/7 level IV Trauma Center, wound care, and women's health and breast care services.
About the Position:
The Licensed Master Social Worker provides social services to patients of the SMMC Behavioral Health Unit and is designated to serve in the role of ‘Director of Social Services’ as designated in Texas Administrative Code. The Master Social Worker directs, monitors, and evaluates social services provided in the SMMC Behavioral Health Unit. The MSW also provides social services and supportive counseling services to BHU patients. The MSW provides professional supervision and oversight of BSW staff members providing social services, including approving psychosocial assessments and discharge planning. The BHU social services function provides key information to patients and families during the treatment process. The LMSW, and BSW under the direction of the MSW, coordinates treatment team meetings and assists patients in the treatment planning and discharge planning process. The Behavioral Health Unit LMSW provides and directs a variety of services to patients, families, relative to discharge planning. The LMSW and BSW serves as the Applicant for Orders of Temporary Involuntary Mental Health treatment, and represents the BHU in any Probable Cause hearings. This position reports to the Director of Behavioral Health.
Regulatory Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Licensed
Prefer 3 years work experience in mental health, substance abuse, developmental disability, or human services field.
Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under many different time lines and task completion demands.
Ability to work effectively with the public and persons with emotional and mental illness problems.
Successful completion of AHA approved course in BLS certification required upon hire.
COAP required within 30 days of hire.
