As SMG continues to expand its use of Business Intelligence tools to drive effective decision-making, the Senior Data Visualization & Business Intelligence Analyst will play an instrumental role in providing actionable insight to key business stakeholders. Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Business Intelligence, the primary responsibility of the Senior Data Visualization & Business Intelligence Analyst is to collaborate with users and other analytics team members to conceptualize, design and develop the front-end components of BI tools in support of strategic initiatives, business development, and standard operations for the organization. The Senior Data Visualization & Business Intelligence Analyst will communicate and collaborate directly with users, including senior leaders, to develop both ad hoc and recurring reporting. The Senior Data Visualization & Business Intelligence Analyst will act as a product manager for BI products used by thousands of users and will work with users to resolve their issues. The ideal candidate will be extremely well-organized, able to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines and will possess a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop data visualization solutions that synthesize complex data concepts into clear communications for leadership and large groups of users
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively across teams to understand business intelligence needs
  • Act as product manager for business intelligence products; work directly with users to support their requests and resolve issues
  • Collaborate with data engineers, business analysts, and subject-matter experts to develop business intelligence products
  • Develop best practices for data presentation and sharing across the organization
  • Serves as a subject-matter expert for Tableau Desktop, Prep, and Server
  • Support the Senior Manager by taking full ownership of large, complex BI projects
  • Respond to ad-hoc reporting needs as required to address business needs and opportunities
  • Prioritize and meet deadlines of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Manage and normalize data input from multiple platforms
  • Assist other team members in developing solutions using SQL, Python, and Powershell
  • Ability to learn new tools and new ways of displaying data, propose efficiencies to improve team effectiveness
  • Use tact, sensitivity, and professionalism in communicating effectively and respectfully with the leadership team, physicians, co-workers and others
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Communicate consistently, professionally, and clearly
  • Respond timely to emails and phone messages
  • Maintain confidentiality of restricted records and communications
  • Maintain the values and philosophy of the mission statement of the company
  • Perform other duties as required for this job

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics/Statistics, Science/Engineering, Information Systems, or Business Management
  • 5+ years of total experience in business intelligence, data/financial analysis, or design roles
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with senior leadership, both written and verbally
  • Ability to anticipate how to successfully enable end users to consume and comprehend complex data sets
  • Ability to normalize and analyze data to answer key business questions
  • Possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint user
  • Experience using languages like SQL, Python, R, and Powershell
  • Experience in sourcing data from disparate systems with a good understanding of their data models and ETL workflow
  • Driven to accomplish goals provided with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Able to multitask and effectively prioritize development efforts
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence or other issue tracking products
  • Proven documentation and organizational skills

  • Experienced automating workflows using in Powershell or Python
  • MS in Analytics, a Science, Information Systems, or MBA
  • Possesses experience acting as a Tableau server administrator
