Position Summary:
Supervises central service activities relating to cleaning, processing, sterilization, distribution, cost control and storage of sterile supplies and equipment according to the policies, procedures and objectives of the department and hospital. Trains personnel in the Central Service Department. Assumes responsibility for the department in the Manager's absence. Rotates on weekend call and responds to beeper immediately, arriving at hospital in 30 minutes or less.

  1. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
  2. Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
  3. Education 3: Technical School/2 Years College/Associates Degree
Specialized Skills (Required):
List the minimum specific knowledge and skills necessary to perform this job (e.g., homecare exp., med/surg exp., basic accounting principles/practices, spreadsheets, word processing, etc.)
  1. Basic Knowledge of anatomy
  2. Ability to multitask to meet changing needs of customers served.
  3. Excellent communication skills
  4. Basic Principles of Operating Room practices and instrumetation.
  5. Inventory management skills
  6. Basic principles of personnel management
  7. Principles of cleaning, decontamination and sterilization.
Specialized Skills (Preferred):
List any preferred knowledge and skills necessary to perform this job.
  1. Knowledge of orthopedic, open heart, robotic equipment and instruments.
  2. Knowlege Infection Control practices.
  3. Knowlege of Federal, State and JCAHO standards
  4. Knowledge of Performance Improvement tools
  5. Knowlegge of staff development and training principles.
