I. Position Function:
Under the supervision of the Vice President, completes billing and accounts payable of the Operating Room.
Complete Front Desk Check –in administrative duties as needed (Check in, checkout, scheduling, referrals, and any other administrative need)
Provides quarterly Q/A of patient charts.
Provides for all the secretarial and clerical needs of the Manager and the entire Department.
Assists with staff scheduling for the Operating Room
II. Job Relationships:
Supervised and/or reportable to the Vice President of Perioperative Services.
III. Authority:
Discuss registration, billing and sliding scale (co-payment) issues with hospital's outpatient billing service, patient finance service and collection agency.
Assist in scheduling Operating Room personnel to work within staffing guidelines
Discuss outpatient client's coverage with insurers and obtain authorization when necessary.
Provide all secretarial services including word processing, typing, filing and computer data input.
Maintain departmental forms and supply inventory through appropriate requisition orders.
IV. A. Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
1.) "Provides superior customer service to internal and external clients, customers,
and patients as referenced in the Service Excellence Standards."
Completes daily billing for the Department.
Completes Administrative support to Front desk Check in duties and scheduling as needed
Makes intake appointments.
Provides secretarial services including word processing, typing and filing.
Responds to and channels incoming calls for response by appropriate staff.
Attends staff meetings and prepares minutes.
Maintains the highest standard of safety to patients, other staff, and self at all times.
Maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and orderliness of working area.
Maintains proper professional demeanor and appearance to patients, professional staff, and co-workers.
Other operational projects as assigned
B. Responsibilities/Non-Essential Functions:
Assists patients with any billing issues through interfacing with the Patient Finance Department and collection agency.
Assists patients with any scheduling or administrative questions
Performs related duties as needed.
V. Reporting Requirements:
Reports immediately to supervisor any deviation in normal operations.
VI. Accountability:
Accountable for maintaining the confidentiality and security of all clinic-related and patient-related data and information.
Accountable for abiding by all relevant hospital policies and procedures.
Accountable for observing all policies and procedures of the Department including Infection Control policies and procedures.
VII. Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma
Minimum Experience:
2 years experience as a Billing/Information Specialist and Secretary in the health care field.
Ability to utilize computers, data input and familiarity with selecting appropriate software and interfacing with a number of software packages.
Minimum skills/abilities:
Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to interface with professional staff, co-workers, and patients.
