Job Summary

Surgical Tech, Surgery/OR - Scrub Tech

Position Summary: Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, is responsible for the care and safety of patients who come under his/her care. Prepares and maintains sterile supplies, instruments and equipment for surgery. Adheres to principles of sterilization, disinfection and maintains a sterile conscience and ethics. Accurately prepare for assigned procedures. Anticipates the needs of the patient and the surgical team. During surgical procedures, he passes instruments and supplies to surgeons and assistants and maintains an accurate account of sponges, needles and instruments.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

• Graduate of a surgical technology program or equivalent
• Minimum of three (3) years OR experience preferred
• Current BLS Certification
• Surgical Tech Certification
• Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assist with varied operative procedures and surgeon’s verbal directives.
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment
