Assist with nursing care of patients in the operating room and function as a member of the surgical team as a surgical scrub technician; Review upcoming OR schedule to anticipate need for instrumentation/equipment, ensuring all necessary equipment is available and in proper working order, setting up all necessary equipment and instrumentation for surgical procedures, performing appropriate surgical counts according to facility policy and organizing case carts for upcoming procedures; Work in collaboration with operating room, gathering, and preparing sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment; preparing and maintaining the sterile field using sterile and aseptic technique and ensure that the surgical equipment is functioning properly and safely; Transfer drugs within the sterile field; Perform specimen handling; Inventorying, disassembling, decontamination, high level disinfection, cleaning, reassembling, and maintaining operating room instrumentation and endoscopy equipment; and Process all instruments and equipment for the operating room; Assist in counting sponges, needles, supplies and instruments with an operating room circulator.

Position Requires:

  • High School Diploma or GED. Graduation from an accredited technical school of surgical technology or 1 year of college. Must have BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association; Must have AST or CST certification.
